O'Dwyers Adult Ladies second team took to a very wet but very solid Breamore Park again St Sylverters (D) in the League Div 10 for just our third ever match.

With the driving rain and gael force winds making for very difficult playing conditions we lost the toss and played up the hill in the first half. The match started with Syls attacking at every opportunity,  but Our defence stood strong with Fiona talking the girls through the game, keeping our shape and forcing them wide time and time again.

Sylverters got the first point of the game , but O'Dwyers pushed up the hill and played the ball into Bláthnat who went for goal and forced a good save from the keeper. Our next attack saw Lily G. level up the score. In the last 7 or 8 mins of the half Sylverters floated  in 2 goals & 2 points on the strong breeze to put an unfortunate slant on the half time score.

Second half with a few positional chances O'Dwyers started on the back foot with Sylverters continuing to put us under pressure popping over a couple of points. But some fine goal keeping and distribution by Fay and points for us by Sarah E. and Aimee kept us in the game going down the home straight. With Lily G forcing another fine save from the keeper and a goal from our captain Dominique, the tide was beginning to turn in our favour as we had them well and truly on the ropes. But alas the final whistle blew with O'Dwyers losing out to Sylverters by 1 - 3 to 2  - 8

We may have lost on the scoreboard but our victories for now are in our performances, and tonight we performed magnificently. As long as we continue to improve our performances game by game as we have done so far, then we know we are on the right path.

The fun, camaraderie and team spirit being built amongst this team is a joy to watch.

Special mention to all the girls from our minor team- Aimee, Rebecca,  Shannon & Leah who's help we could not do without.

Many thanks

Luke. Miriam & Noreen
