On a bright but chilly morning you could feel the nervous anticipation as the lads arrived out at Naomh Olafs.

Our first hurling match of the year against a big club who we knew would be a tough challenge. 

As coaches we couldnt tell what way it would go. There was a chance we could struggle to get into the groove and fail to lay a paw on Olafs. We had limited opportunities over the last 8 weeks to work on our skills and no time at all on grass.

We gathered the lads together this morning and our message to them was clear. No matter what happened go out and give it 100% effort. Mistakes would be made but go easy on themselves and each other, pick themselves up and keep going.

As the refs whistle blew across the 3 pitches and the matches got underway we need not have worried. The hard work, determination, battling and skills were there from the start. All games were tightly contested and at the end we were really proud of all the lads efforts in 3 really entertaining games. 

Still plenty of work ons but the foundations are strong.
