Mens’ first team- Championship Rd 1 - Crumlin
It was Crumlin's turn to travel on Sunday morning for the first round of the championship in Bremore. Having gone toe to toe in the last round of the league to secure promotion, a tough game was always on the cards and it didn't disappoint. Crumlin started the game strong and created lots of scoring opportunities and in particular a number of goal scoring chances which were expertly dealt with by James. The turning point in the game occurred in the second quarter when a double save (James & then Lee) saw us spark into life and a fast transition saw us awarded a penalty which was dispatched by Arron. Crumlin received 2 black cards following the penalty incident and in the following 10-mins we raced into a 1.10 to 0.03 half time lead.
Playing against the wind in the second half, scores were harder to come by and Crumlin laid siege to our goals with high balls around the square but the lads stood firm and kicked on in the fourth quarter to run out 1.17 to 1.07 winners.
Well done to the lads and management. Round 2 is fixed for Aug 27th - stay tuned for more information.
