On what turned out to be a perfect Saturday afternoon for a match, our u13 div 4 boys team took to the field against Castleknock. After conceding 2 early goals, the lads heads never dropped and through some fantastic passing and movement worked themselves back into the game. Down by 2 points at halftime, the lads started the 2nd half brightly, but unfortunately conceded another 2 early goals. 6 points down the lads rallied again and from that point on they took over the game and dominated Castleknock for the final 20mins. They took the lead with a few minutes remaining, only for Castleknock to equalise with the last kick of the game. Final score in what turned out to be an epic battle was 5-06 to 5-06. The coaches were so proud of the lads. They never give up, no matter what is thrown at them. Their determination and workrate in matches each week is fantastic to watch. Well done lads 👏👏
Our div 9 team had a fantastic 5-8 to 3-9 against Geraldine P Morans. After a slow start where we gave them a 6 point head start we grew into the game and got the lead down to the minimum by half time. The second half was a completely different story where we restricted them to just a few points with some very strong defending and put away more of the chances that we had been creating all along. In the end the scoreline looked comfortable but it was anything but for the tortured souls on the side line. 😂
The lads seem to be really warming to their task now and we can see them stepping up and making this their team, after we made the decision after grading to enter two teams for this year’s leagues. Big thanks again goes to the lads from the u12s who were fantastic as always and without whom we couldn’t have even fulfilled the fixture. Some really good performances today with a special mention to our back line who put in some fantastic defending which was the rock the win was built on. Our forwards took great scores and our midfielders tracked back well, topped off by some great kickouts by our goalkeeper. Well done 👍🏼👍🏼
