Give Respect – Get Respect Initiative
As part of this process, Dublin Camogie will also seek to foster the Give Respect – Get Respect Initiative, to ensure that at the very minimum, our Camogie games are promoted and played in a positive, fair and enjoyable manner where players, coaches, spectators, and referees Give Respect and Get Respect from each other.
The following shall be implemented in promoting and supporting the Respect Initiative:
- Host Clubs will welcome each team, officials, referees, and spectators to their venue.
- All players shall, as a condition of participation, undertake to play by the rules and take responsibility for their own behavior whilst always respecting their opponents, referees, and officials.
- Players will line up at the center of the field before each game and will shake hands with all members of the opposing team, their coaches, and the referee.
- Each player shall shake hands with their immediate opponents before and after each game.
- The respective coaches will also shake hands with the referee and their opposition coaches before and after each game.
To further support this ethos in 2023, the referees and officials will identify the team at each venue that has been deemed to foster the true spirit of Féile in this way. The selected team will be photographed and rewarded for their efforts under the Fair Play Award, and we would like Clubs to make their teams aware of this and encourage their participation, details to follow
