**Match Report**
Our U14 Footballers made the trip across the m50 to play Ballyboden in the knowledge that a win would see them through to the Div 5 Cup Final.
Ballyboden started much the better with a goal in their first attack added with a few points to put us on the back foot straight away. We settled a bit then and goals from Dillon and Matthew, and points from John and Dillon kept us in touch at the first water break 2-5 to 2-2 down.
We came into it a bit more in the 2nd quarter thanks to some excellent work around the middle from Julian and Lee to head into halftime level at 2-6 to 3-3. A very even game.
We really woke up after halftime and wrestled back some control but Ballyboden wouldn't give up and the score after the 3rd quarter was 3-8 to 4-6, a one point lead for us.
In the final quarter we edged 5 points ahead after a goal and a point from Conor, and were looking in control only to concede a soft enough penalty to bring the gap back to 2 points.
Both teams shared another point each as the game came to a nervy finish but the ref blew the final whistle and the lads had the job done and they had their place confirmed in the Div 5 Final.
It was a huge team effort yesterday from everybody, but for the mentors team there were a few lads that really stood up for us when the pressure was on so a big well done to Julian, Eoin, Matthew and Conor. However there was one standout player for us all yesterday who led the team by example and drove the team forward from full back so congrats on your POTM Leon.
Thanks everyone for your support home and away this year and with a bit of luck the lads can bring home some silverware to the club over the next few weeks.
