O'Dwyers 3- 10

St Monica's 0-10

Today's match was a test of discipline for O'Dwyers- and they passed. Their opponents St Monica's wanted to drag O'Dwyers into a dog fight but the parish completely ignored it and instead maintained their focus on the task at hand.

In what was a scrappy enough first half, O'Dwyers first score was a goal where a shot dropped short and club G.O.A.T Liam Prout was quickest to react and fist the ball into the net ahead of the Monica's goalkeeper. Prout's frees kept the scoreboard ticking over to the half time whistle and O'Dwyers led by 3 points.

In the second half O'Dwyers playing downhill kicked into beast mode and simply blew their opponents out of the water. There was superb fielding of the ball from the man mountain Jude O'Sullivan and his midfield partner Dillion Andrews scored a magnificent individual goal which kick-started the second half onslaught.

With some excellent defending from Coman Burke in the full back line allowed for other defenders like James Keenan, the hammer, Lawlor and Dylan Foster to attack and punish the opposition.

Arron Keenan scored O'Dwyers 3rd goal and then some excellent points followed from Tom Downes, Dean Thompson and Prout which ultimately put the game to bed - all before the the 2nd water break!

The final 10 minutes O'Dwyers slowed the game down, emptied the bench and kept the game in their control.  O'Dwyers hard work on the day was summarised when corner forward covered back over 80 metres and turned over a St Monica's counterattack and then O'Dwyers worked a score of their own. The parish steered clear of any hand bags that St Monica's wanted  and ran out comfortable winners by a 9 point margin to set up a quarter final tie against neighbor's Man o war.

Our Second adult team travelled to Round Towers Lusk in the afternoon, and had a big shoes to fill after this mornings first team performance but they responded with a superb away win, winning out 2-15 to 2-11 in what was a close game throughout.

Well done to both teams and management.....Up the parish
