Our U14 hurlers began their Div 6 Cup journey today when they welcomed Ranelagh Gaels to Bells field in glorious sunshine.

Our opponents could only travel over with 13 men, and with some dropouts ourselves we began with 13 on the field and 4 subs.

It was a very even game right the way through with both sides starting well and at the 1st water break, we were slightly ahead 1-2 to 1-1.

The 2nd quarter was even again with missed chances and nice scores by both teams to leave the half-time score even at 3-5 to 4-2.

We lost our way a bit in the 3rd quarter and conceded a couple of scores without scoring to leave us 3-5 to 5-3 behind, down by 4 points.

For the last quarter, we switched a few positions and were able to bring some subs on and the lads pushed on. We were unlucky on a few occasions not to even the scores and we were heading towards injury time still 4 points behind.

After their keeper dragged Dillon back after he was clean through we were awarded a free from 13 yards out. Up stepped Julian to bury the chance and give the whole team a lift. We went on to tack 3 more points onto the scoreboard and finish strong to take the win by 2 points, 4-8 to 5-3.
