Return to play: Covid Officer Update

In response to the governments most recent COVID restrictions, GAA have provided us with further clarifications as per below;

Under 8 to Under 11

  •   As per our Return to Play calendar issued June 25th CCC1 is due to recommence fixtures on Saturday 29th August for our Under 8 to Under 11 age grades.
  •   U8 to U11 Go Games tends to involve large groups with multi pods arriving at each venue between 9.30am and 12.30pm on a Saturday morning. The groups tend to congregate together on arrival/play matches against several opposition teams and this often coincides with a Club Nursery finishing their session. All leading to large groups of players + 1 parent each in attendance.
  •  Due to the recent Covid-19 Government update and its recommendations up to September 13th, CCC1 in agreement with Bord na nÓg has decided that we will not issue fixtures for this age grouping until Saturday 19th September.
  •  While Challenge games can of course still proceed we suggest that teams should try to keep these organised friendlies as close to their own Clubs as possible to limit large numbers of parents, children and cars crisscrossing the city.

Parent / Guardian attendance

It has been confirmed that parents or guardians attending a sporting event in a “safeguarding” or “supervisory” capacity will not be classified as spectators, although strict social distancing and public health guidelines should be adhered to at all times. The GAA recommendation as issued on Wednesday  was “While we await further clarification on the issue of parents attending juvenile games we suggest that one parent or guardian may attend a game where they consider it necessary for the welfare of their own child.”

Player Membership

There is a large amount of outstanding membership. With a huge amount of fixtures to fulfil, teams need to be operating with full panels. This will not be possible unless membership is paid by all. Any team that has not got membership paid in full, risks being ineligible to fulfil their fixtures as the county board may not allow them play. Membership is also necessary to ensure access to the player injury fund should an injury occur.

 All payment options will remain in place for the full year to facilitate installment payments and membership can be paid online via Club website or in the Club on Sat morning between 11 and 1

Further details available on our website membership page: https://odwyersgaa.com/membership/ or contact our Club Registrar Antoinette on 089 4709815
