O'Dwyers U.14's traveled to Porterstown to start our Hurling Féile 2020 adventure today.

With several players missing through injury or away on a family holiday,  we struggled to field a team today. 15 players took to the field with an injured man on the sidelines for moral support and ready to jump into nets if needed. We also had some walking wounded on the pitch fully prepared to put bodies on the line for their team.

Castleknock started well with 2 well-taken points before O'Dwyers broke up the pitch and scored one of our own. This was to set the tone for the match, a real end to end thriller.  At times our defence came under a lot of pressure.  But we stood tall and hooked and blocked with great determination to force mistakes. During this period of possession Castleknock took some great scores from distance to open up a gap on the scoreboard.

A great clearance from Zac May in cornerback really helped relieve the pressure and put us back on the front foot. We got back into the game with a goal following a great drive out of midfield by Callum Johnson, which was followed up by a nice point from Noel Morris.

Second half we had the wind at our backs and the lads felt a bit more confident in possession and started to get more distance on our strikes. We put a lot of pressure on their defence and came away with some fine scores the highlight of which was a Callum Tierney HEADED 😁 sliotars hitting the back of the net.

Unfortunately, it wasn't our day as Castleknock deservedly won't the match 4 - 18 to 2 - 06

Plenty of positives to take from the match as we move on and anticipate the return our injured players, Jack & Julian
