O'Dwyers faced last year's JFC 1 semi-finalists Geraldine Morans at home in Bremore last night.
In front of a Covid compliant crowd, O'Dwyers started strongly playing up the hill against the wind in the first half. They were unlucky not to get a couple of goals but some last-ditch defending and a stubborn post denied Aaron Keenan and Peter Lawless early on. Despite the early dominance of the home team Geraldine Morans came into the game and led at half time by 7 points to 5
The second half started with the previously strong wind disappearing and the home team struggled to get a foothold. Geraldine Morans scored a goal in the third quarter which left them with a five-point lead and less than 8 minutes on the clock. O'Dwyers used the last water break to reset and from there on they put enormous pressure on Geraldine Moran's players and particularly their kick out. This caused panic on the southside team who had a player sent off late on.
The game changed when Dan Doherty brilliantly made space for himself before slipping the ball into Jude O'Sullivan who blasted to the net. One down with no time left. Liam Prout came up with a late equaliser but big Jude O'Sullivan had the final say when he turned his marker late on to drive home the winning score with the last kick of the game. Final score O'Dwyers 1-10 Geraldine Morans 1-09.
That's two wins in this year's Championship for O'Dwyers who now face NaGael Og at home on Sunday 16th at 11 am.
Having suffered a heavy defeat to this opposition last year all support would be appreciated as O'Dwyers bid to make the quarter-finals.
