New Club App: ClubZap

With our club approaching 1000 members and nearly 50 teams, we have a requirement for a more efficient way of managing a modern-day club of our size. Following a review of a number of tools that are available in the marketplace that facilitated this, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with Irish Company ClubZap

https://odwyersgaa.com/clubzap/

ClubZap is a mobile communications and payment platform for sports clubs to engage with their local community and deliver news, notifications, fixtures, results, lotto, membership, merchandising, GDPR (more features to follow) right to your phone. It also removes the need for noisy non GAA compliant WhatsApp groups and all club communication including nursery-adult team communication will be via the ClubZap app.

We would ask you all to please download the app (2 minutes), there is no cost to you and in there you will find loads of information to keep updated on all things O’Dwyers related.

See our dedicated webpage for instructions and further information: https://odwyersgaa.com/clubzap/

Return to play: Covid Officer Update

It has been a very busy couple of weeks since our return to play. I wanted to provide you with an overview of the steps that our club has put in place with GAA, LGFA and Camogie associations to ensure a secure environment for all.

  1. Every member and player has completed a mandatory e-learning module
  2. Prior to Club participation, every member provided an update Health Questionnaire and this is ongoing for every session
  3. Each club team has an appointed Covid Supervisor in place to ensure adherence to Club health policies
  4. Track & Trace adherence for every player is in place
  5. HSE & GAA facility recommendations are fully adhered too
  6. We have sanitisation points at the main pitches
  7. A medical isolation room in-place
  8. Shared and team equipment is sanitised after each session
  9. Reduced training period & team pod isolation in place via One Way systems in the club
  10. Adult teams are temporarily training on Bells pitches only
  11. Social distancing and Good personal Hygiene guidelines are regularly communicated and adhered too.
  12. Regular communication process with Covid Supervisors on Team mentors on changes in policies

We have followed all the GAA protocols and are adhering to the latest updates, GAA commentary is that it is 19 times more unlikely that you will contract COVID while playing sports and outdoors as it is to be in an enclosed space.

So as long as we all continue to work together, we will keep everyone Safe while enjoying our sports

Player Membership

We have conducted a membership review for the 2020 season and the paid membership levels are extremely low versus what we expect. The club appreciates that there was a significant interruption to our season. However, the majority of our teams are now back training and competitive games coming up.

We as a club need to ensure that every player and active members have paid their membership in full to ensure that they can play/train and are covered by insurance to play.  All payment options will remain in place for the full year to facilitate part payments and membership can be paid online via Club website or in the Club on Sat morning between 11 and 1

Further details available on our website membership page: https://odwyersgaa.com/membership/ or contact our Club Registrar Antionette on 089 4709815

Club Shop

Our club shop is open every Saturday morning between 11am and 12pm with a stock of club tops, bottoms, hurls, helmets,  gum shields, socks and shorts. The shop has new hurls and helmets for sale. If anybody has a helmet they would like to trade-in or not using please bring it down to the club shop.

Support our Sponsors and Local Business

Support local business and our sponsors - O’DwyersGAA, like so many clubs across the country, rely on the support of local businesses throughout the year. The last few months have been extremely difficult for businesses in Balbriggan. As companies re-open we encourage our members and friends to shop local and help get Balbriggan going again. Tacaigh le gnóthaí áitiúla.

New Development Update

As per our previous update regarding the development, we would like to provide a further status on the progress of our new club development. There are a number of separate processes closed and still in motion at the moment, see below the current status of the milestones.

✔ Peer review of project, design, and costings signed off by GAA representatives.

✔ The project has been agreed with our partners and the project signed off by the GAA Central council

✔ Full planning is in place

✔ The overall sales and purchase agreement contracts have been agreed & Signed with our Partners in Fingal County Council (FCC)

✔ Our preferred Builder has been selected and he is still committed to the timelines set out and agreed with the Development Team

  • We are awaiting a final tax clearance document from the Tax office
  • Upon receipt of this clearance, secured grants will be drawn down and moved to the new development.
  • Site works can proceed to commence upon finalisation of Grant reallocation

It is important for members to understand that the last steps are in progress and have been in progress for the last 30 days and are being held up due to the current COVID – 19 limitations.

As soon as these final steps are completed a follow-up meeting will be called to share with members the timelines of the revised project and the status of the financials and impact on the project deliverables. Our expectation is that this will take place in the coming weeks.

Bremore Regional Park Development

Separately, Fingal County Council has been progressing a park development and design plan to guide the future development of Bremore Regional Park, Balbriggan, North County Dublin.

Fingal County Council and design partners have shared with us their initial design and proposed plans for the Sports Hub (this is excluding the already committed to GAA pitch within the park)

Although this is a separate process from our own club development process we are key stakeholders in Bremore Regional park and we have participated fully in the design process of the use of the park to date.

We are continuing to work with our partner Fingal County Council on this proposal and as soon as we receive confirmation of the decision we will communicate the same to all members.
