Well done to our U15 Girls Team who took to the field today for their D4 Championship semi-final v Erin Go Bragh at home in O’Dwyers. The weather was windy and having lost the toss up we played downhill first half hoping we could keep a strong EGB team at bay. We knew from previous games with EGB it would be a tough and close game as they’re a great team and well coached.

Great leadership was shown across the whole team today with great communication and workrate from our Keeper Grace, and from our defence right up to our forwards. Our 1st score came only 3 mins in from Emma with a bursting run and was followed by 3 more from Sophie with some great Give and Goes across the team. Our Midfield duo never stopped running today. O’Dwyers lead at half time 0-4 to 0-1.

The girls weren’t prepared to leave this game to chance and came out with one thing on their mind in the second half, to perform to the best of their ability and leave nothing behind.

The team chipped away at the score board and Callie came in with a super goal 14mins into the second half.  The girls kept up the workrate and were rewarded with some fantastic scores from Sophie, Ava and Zakia to secure the win and place in the final. Full time score was 2-9 to 0-6.

Each and every player contributed to the win today. They worked so hard and cohesive as a team, working the scores and supporting each other. All their skills, hard work and time spent practicing over the last year on and off field paid off for the girls.

Thank you to the Erin Go Bragh team and management for a great battle. Your girls showed true determination throughout and deserve great credit for the season you’ve had!

They are a terrific and incredible bunch of girls and we were very proud of them today. Thanks to all the parents, guardians and coaches who came down to support today 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 It makes a huge difference 👏

We will meet SOPER in the final on Saturday 19th October, venue TBC.
