2024 Exec Monthly Update
September 2024
We are still working through the motions raised by members during the AGM in 2023
- Club Policy Audit & Review in progress and is aligned with works on club website ( Refresh )
- Club 5 year Plan; information gathering has commenced and is in progress to be completed by year end
- Recruitment of Player officer role has been paused due to no candidates, so the function is moved into C&G Schools committee

General Club Updates
- O’Dwyers Senior ladies Have done it again, they have built on their previous successes and came out on top of a hard battle against Parnells on Sat 28th, they now enter into the Leinster championship on 19th Oct in Laois. Let’s make sure we get out and support the ladies in their next game
- Keith Beezer Gorman, Old & new members rallied together to set up a club day & fundraising event for Keith Gorman. The event was well attended with live music, ceili and old vs new adult challenge game. Well done to the committee that pulled together a fantastic day for Keith
- Sports Capital grant award, We have been awarded €142,447 for the new development phase 2 for the provision of floodlights and renewable energy solar panels for the new development - Planning of works will commence upon official notification of award T&Cs
- We are getting bigger our current club membership stands at 1,108 and growing which is Year on Year growth of 13.5% over the last two years
- Fingal Beach Festival, the club participated in the second Fingal Sports Beach festival on the front beach, we had a number of stands demonstrating the skills of GAA to the wider community and a stand with goodies & information, it was a very enjoyable day
- OgDwyers Are Back, In mid-September we welcomed back OgDwyers & Academy and we have seen a big increase in numbers participating, please support the Ogs Team with promotion of Ogs, to spread the word and grow the participants
- Lego and Games and Music
Lego and Games as Gaeilge has returned once a month. This is a great opportunity for your child to practice their Irish. All juvenile members welcome. Parents are welcome to stay and have a cuppa and try out a word or two of Irish. Stay with us afterwards for some lovely trad music at our family session starting at 12.30. Keep an eye on social media.
- Adult player recruitment, We have kicked off adult player recruitment for the upcoming season with a number of campaigns: Moriarity group, Passport office and Balbriggan Gardai in advance of the 2025 season & transfer window. We would like to add to our adult teams across Mens and ladies, football & Hurling teams. - U21 Championship In 2024 we will also enter two mens u21 football & a u21 hurling team into the championships, this championship will start in Oct and the structure of the championship will be pure knockout, Best of luck to players & management teams
- Website Development - Refresh is in progress, so watch this space for new content. Are you a wordsmith or interested in getting involved with the content refresh on the website, get in contact secretary.odwyers.dublin@gaa.ie, massive thank you to Ray Mallon for all his work on the backend and technical set up.
- Strength & Conditioning, Our club strength & conditioning programme commenced with Athletic development for u13 to u16 teams throughout September, and our Expressions of interest closed for service providers on 30th Sept for adult teams with a view to commence for 2025 season- Both initiatives are part of an overall club strategy to develop & empower our team players in their physical development through gaelic games.
- Taylor Hill Pitch development - We have been in contact with Fingal Co. Council and the final snag list is in progress and the process of handover from the Glenveagh to Fingal is in progress.
- New development Services We have received a number of proposals for the provision of services [External Coffee/Tea facility] in the new development, we are reviewing these in relation to selection criteria and decisions are being postponed until we are in the new development
- Club promotional locations if any members can secure prominent locations for additional temp or perm club signage please contact secretary.odwyers.dublin@gaa.ie with details of location for consideration

New Development Progress Update
Following on from the general development update and status. Commencement of works for new main gate by Fingal ( McAvoy ) contractor has commenced and works are making progress
The overall plan is still on track as per the timelines shared below. We hope to be in a position to provide a detailed update on progress vs plan in the next two weeks

Further Updates
- Planning for internal and external club signage in progress along with community signage for facilities directions - Review complete and tender to be commenced with preferred suppliers
- Transition group will commence review of Transition plan and re-plan to align with the handover date of 21st Jan and have a follow up with group throughout Oct & Nov to mobilise pre-move activities
Monthly Decisions
- CIE | Dart+ Coastal North Project consultation notification, we have been in discussions with the project planners regarding the scope of the project and potential impact on the new development, at this juncture the impact will be minimal on development or future club activities
- Féile Na Samhna Mid-term activities will commence this year after the success of last year's initiative, watch out for activities to be communicated in early Oct.
- Club player pathway policy submitted for review to Exec by C&G complete and approved and will be updated to the club website
- Fire training completed by members of Social committee and Bar staff - To be rolled out to club key holders in coming weeks
